The Shore & Lake Corporation was incorporated in 1931 for the purpose of owning and developing real estate managed by The Jas. Jay Smith Company, aka Jas. Jay Smith Real Estate or Avy B. Smith, who held property in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maine, as well as in other states. The original name for their real estate company was The Jas. Jay Smith Company which transferred most titles to the Shore & Lake Corporation.
